Nick Walters’ journey in basketball began in grade 4 at the YBC youth basketball camp. He went on to play for McDonald Drive Junior High and Gonzaga High School, where he learned teamwork and sportsmanship.

Nick’s profound love for basketball extended beyond playing. His decision to become a youth basketball coach was motivated by his son Oliver’s deep interest in the sport. Nick’s mission was to nurture Oliver’s love for basketball and provide young athletes with guidance and mentorship, just as he received during his own basketball journey.

As an Executive Chef at the Merchant Tavern, Nick excels in communication and mentorship. Nick finds that guiding young athletes is very similar to guiding young chefs, whether it’s in the kitchen or on the court, Nicks goal is to enhances skills and cultivate responsible, confident individuals.
